Is it possible to reshaft a Odyssey 2-Ball putter into a Belly Putter??

Question:

Hi all, I have two Odyseey 2-Ball putters and I was wondering if it would be possible to have a local club maker turn one of them into a Belly Putter by putting a different shaft or lengthening the exisiting shaft. Right now, they are both 35 inches. What do you all think?? I’m looking forward to your thoughts and feedback! Thanks in advance!!! Regards, Steve B.

Shouldn’t be a problem at all for a clubmaker to change a shaft. That seems like too simple-minded a question. Are you asking for feedback as to the advisability of doing same? Sounds like a worthwhile experiment, since you have two of them. Have one made into a belly putter, and try it out.  See which one works better for you. I’d be interested to hear what your results are. Peter

Funny, I was looking for a 50 inch model, and thought of the same idea. IMHO, it can be done, but there are some issues with the lie angle being incorrect for the longer length putters, and the weight of the club not being right. If you really want to do it since you have 2, tell the clubmaker to bend the putter SHAFT more upright, about 4 to 6 degrees. Then put another shaft into the existing one once the grip is removed. You can cover the extension with the new belly putter grip, cut to length and away you go. BTW, I ordered the 50 inch model directly from Callaway, should be in this week. Try checking with your local shop that carries Callaway stuff. I think both models will be available soon. Ken R.

Do the manufacture a different bore angle for that?  Heads made specifically for long putters are usually 78-79 degrees. Response:

Yes, usually 79 degrees for a long putter is about right. Finally got to try the 50 inch model. Head feels great, shaft is too flexible at this length. Shame.
