Question:
Actually Dan, McBain is right (almost). It is 44,440% since the Roi was 444.4 times the initial investment.
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – McBain, I sure don’t want you figuring my handicap! isn’t it 44,444%?? McBain Yes, but I only paid 10 cents for it. A $44.44 gross profit (444.4% ROI) ain’t all bad. Don $44.54! I think I saw one sell for$244.54 the other day! ;^) I may have the best ROI for selling an item on eBay. I bought a circa 1960 Detroit Red Wings logo golf ball at an estate sale for ten cents – in mint condition. I sold it on eBay for $44.54 – now if I could only do that in my normal business, I could keep up with the Dave Sneddon’s of the world. Don snip I would be interested in hearing other RSG’s ebay experience. How about a "Who’s got the best deal" Contest. Winner gets inducted into the RSG shoppers hall of fame. ;^) Dan
Response:
In rec.sport.golf i think I did pretty well. A set of Hogan Apex with Apex 4 shaft. 1999 model. They were in 9.5 condition. my price/ $220 inc. shipping and insurance. They are sweet clubs. I’ll never listen to those who say do not get a blade unless you are single digit golfer. Anyway, it was a good deal.
That was a good deal, hell, it was a steal. I would have jumped all over that one.
Response:
I was watching the bidding on those clubs !!!!! I ended up finding a set of Founders Club 200 Series forged irons for $205.
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I just bought my first club on ebay. I’ve been watching the auction bidding on Callaway Steelhead Plus 7 woods and have been amazed at what people would bid for them. In a steel shaft because of being price protected by callaway, $169 is as low as a retailer can sell it. People have bid as high as $190! I finally was able to get one for 108.50 which included S&H. I would be interested in hearing other RSG’s ebay experience. How about a "Who’s got the best deal" Contest. Winner gets inducted into the RSG shoppers hall of fame. ;^) Dan A numbered set (176/1000 or maybe 1500) of Maruman Curtis Strange signature irons (2-pw) for $175. I gave them to one of the girl bartenders at our club. No sense in having clubs gather dust in my garage. Scott
Response:
You obviously don’t understand ebay. There are individual "things of value" that have gone for over one million at open auction.
Yes indeed…I know a guy who was bidding over $1 Million on a Rare Ferrari, he got aced by $.40…FORTY CENTS! We’re still trying to figure it out.

I received two great deals on ebay over the last couple of years. I bought a titleist 975D 7.5 deg ultralite stiff shaft for only 135.00 and the club was mint! The other was a couple of seasons ago I got a ping anser 2 nickel putter for 90.00 just about the time ping announced they were not making nickel putters or irons any more. Ebay is truly a great place for good deals on golf clubs, you can find anything you want and I have never been screwed. Mark
